FAQ
What is biblical counselling?
1
At heart, biblical counselling is a conversation that aims to connect life and Scripture, our behaviour and our deeper motivations and beliefs. Like other kinds of counselling, it offers a safe space for you to be seen and heard with compassion, and without judgment or pressure. It involves me asking questions to help you see your situation through fresh eyes. Unlike other kinds of counselling, biblical counselling wants to keep Jesus at the centre and learn from his wisdom. Most sessions will include looking at the Bible and prayer.
Biblical counselling
Takes the Bible seriously We find our footing and direction as we listen thoughtfully to what God is saying
Takes the pain and complexity of life seriously I want to listen carefully to your story and help you process it well in the light of God’s word
Takes the power of God seriously We have great hope for comfort, refreshment and change because Jesus lives in us by the Holy Spirit.
I work in parallel with local church pastoral care. Wherever possible, I aim to make contact with someone from your church to ensure continuity of care.

I am happy to work with people who are already followers of Jesus, and those who are not yet. I will be sensitive to your preferences, but will aim to be opening the Bible and praying in most sessions. I am happy to explore whether biblical counselling is the best approach for you and can point you elsewhere if that seems more suitable.
